Novak Djokovic wins an epic Aussie final in 5 sets over Rafael Nadal
Djokovic won 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 despite looking incredibly worn out in the middle of the 5th set.
Both players were exhausted by the end of the match, but battled through it to make amazing shots time after time, volleying back and forth, and testing each other at every turn.
Djokovic, the top ranked player in the world, has now won 2 straight Australian Open championships, but this one had to be a little more satisfying.
This match was reminiscent of the 2008 Wimbledon final between Nadal and Roger Federer, another 5-set marathon, which ended in a Nadal win.
The match lasted so long that the replay on ESPN2 had to be pushed back, because the live match ran too long and overlapped with the beginning of the replay.
Congratulations to Djokovic, who came back from down 4-2 in the 5th and final set to cement an incredible victory. Also, huge credit goes to Nadal, who also played an incredible match despite coming up short.
