Oakland Raiders Players Are Thinking About Quitting
It's Much Worse In Oakland Than You Can Possibly Imagine
READ MORE:

It would of course be a complete understatement to say that this season isn't going very well for the Raiders. I mean, it's going atrociously. But that said, I never realized it was quite THIS bad. Apparently players are quite literally on the verge of jumping ship because they're so fed up with how the season is going and how poorly the organization is being run.

Courtesy of NFL.com's Adam Schefter:

Players in Oakland are so unhappy with the environment, the losing, the instability, that many would prefer to leave. This is not entirely uncommon around a losing team, but it is more extreme in Oakland than anywhere else.

It is thought to be one reason that Nnamdi Asomugha has been so apprehensive about signing a long-term extension with Oakland, why free-agent acquisition Gibril Wilson would welcome the opportunity to get to choose a new team again, why Javon Walker considered leaving last summer (Walker offered to return his bonus money to leave the team).

Fact: It has gotten so bleak that, just this past week, at least one prominent player actually considered quitting, taking a leave of absence, just because he feels like he cannot take it anymore. He wound up not doing it, but chances are he is hardly the only Raider thinking it
.

That's pretty amazing when you stop and think about. That means you're willing to give up millions of dollars so that you don't have to put up with the BS of playing for a dysfunctional team. I'm not sure about you, but I can put up with quite a lot for a few million, so I'd have to guess things are pretty bad in Oakland. Frankly, I'm amazed this team has won two games this year.

The question of course is what will it take to get this team back to at least semi-respectability? Uh, I hate to broach this subject, but most people think the only thing that'll get the Raiders back to that level will be if Al Davis retires - which won't happen - or kicks the bucket.

Because right now, it really has reached the point where not even money will lure people to Oakland. Which means that Oakland will more or less become a spot for fringe NFL players, like undrafted free agents and washed up veterans looking for an extra paycheck.

And as for getting any kind of decent coach to come to Oakland, that's completely out of the question.

Plus, it's truly remarkable that there's a team in the NFL that actually makes the Detroit Lions look like a well run franchise in comparison.

Some one should tell Al Davis that Matt Millen is available.

I just want to know who that one prominent player who thought about quitting was.  If I had to guess, it was Javon Walker again.

Any player quitting on his team should REALLY quit The NFL. There is no place for quitting in this league. Players that quit are only stealing money and should be on the "BANNED FROM FOOTBALL" list.

The Raiders should quit, they are an embarassment to the NFL, if the players did quit perhaps Al Davis would as well, the Raiders will be a doormat as long as this imbecile is allowed to run things

One can at least say this about Al Davis: He somehow makes Jerry Jones look like he knows what he's doing!

Wow, this is disturbing, but not shocking.  I mean, who did Al Davis hire last to coach his team?  At the opening press conference, the guy acted like the equipment manager, not an NFL head coach.  I just remember thinking, "wow this new guy is a hundred times worse than Lane Kiffin."  Is that possible?  No wonder the players want out at all costs.

I think at this time there is one thing that Raiders can do to save this season.

Insurance Fire.

No it is not time to quit the raiders need to stop being such little crybabies, and step up realize who they are repesenting what the players not the organization stood for but the player, the players of old screw the limelight playball understand what you are playing for Honor, respect, and us. Javon just catch the damn ball and run play likeyou playedin Greenbay and go home at night.

If this is true this is a bad sign to us Raider fans.  Only a few select people are chosen to play in the NFL & for players to even think about quitting (unless its retirement time) is not good.  The Raiders are a bad team but, as a player you go out and do your part as well as encourage your teammates to do the same.  This team lacks a leader in the front office as well as on the field.  What player has stepped up in that locker room and tried to make everyone accountable for their on field actions?

quitters... that must be why they lose.  quitters can't finish what they start; the Raiders would've been a .500 team or better if they knew how to finish games. quitters don't finish.  football is a physical sport, and physical teams excel, but u have to have the desire to be physical.  quitters lose their desire to excel or perform; that's how they become quitters.   if it's a question of on-field performance, they can only blame themselves, stop cryin about Al and losin... if it's about the environment, bounce and go quit somwhere else.  i know athletes right now that hate the raiders, but would suit up gladly, including myself, jus for the opportunity to play professional football.  bad locker rooms bring great teams down; ask Dallas.  bad front office decisions bring team value down; ask Detroit, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Frisco, etc.
