Oakland Raiders fire Hue Jackson

The Oakland Raiders have reportedly fired head coach Hue Jackson after just one season. The Raiders went 8-8 under Jackson this season, and had they won in Week 17, they would have qualified for the playoffs.

The firing was Reggie McKenzie's first act at the Raiders' general manager and was announced at a news conference introducing McKenzie.

No replacement has been announced yet, though multiple outlets have reported that current Green Bay Packers' assistant head coach/inside linebackers' coach Winston Moss is the favorite for the job.

Jackson previously served as the team's offensive coordinator in 2010. Apparently things haven't changed all that much in the Raiders' organization since the passing of legendary owner Al Davis.

Jackson is the sixth NFL coach to be fired since the start of the 2011-12 season.

Six coaches in ten seasons....they're the model of consistency. Whoever McKenzie brings in has to be someone who can bring to this organization something it's lacked for some time now - stability. Bring in a coach who you feel will be there for the long haul.  The Raiders benefit from playing in a very winnable division and there is some talent on both sides of the ball. I just wonder if he's going to bring in a talented assistant coach or bring in a retread. Perhaps Chuckie would like to return? Hmmm..

I knew Jeezy wasnt going to make it because there was no reason good reason for them not to have made the playoffs.

IT is all good we will see Hue Jackson as a Head Coach soon enough. with all that went on in Oakland he did a good job, he is a lot better then many of the coaches out there. I will take as the Chargers Head Coach any day.

I think Hue got a little power hungry and Reggie McKenzie wanted to show him and the rest of Raider Nation who is boss.  I also don't think it helped Jackson's cause when he sold the farm to the Bengals to get Carson Palmer.  Raiders may soon regret giving up all those picks

The Raiders' New GM Reggie McKenzie is cleaning out alot of dirt... Also heard that a new linebacker coach as well as a new secondary coach could be in the works as well...  If firing Hue Jackson and gettting rid of some players are going to help the Raiders next year, I'm for it...  I wish Hue the best and it's time to move on... It's business at the end of the day...
