Former Ohio State verbal commit Alex Anzalone—a 4-star outside linebacker from Wyomissing, Pa.—is famous around the college recruiting world for his recent de-commitment as a Buckeye after his father (Sal) became upset when seeing a photo online of Alex posing with a registered sex offender during an unofficial campus visit.

One of the stranger happenings in Ohio State recruiting, Alex's dad seemed to have more of a pull on the decision:

"There's a disconnect between what Alex thought was there (at Ohio State) and what is actually there," said Sal, according to The Reading Eagle. "Something's just not right at Ohio State," Sal Anzalone said. "It's not for him."

In what may be an even stranger sequence of events, Sal soon retracted his comments and told the Reading Eagle that Ohio State was still in the mix for Alex and that the school hadn't done anything wrong.

Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer has not written Anzalone off and would accept him back with open arms, and ESPN recruiting analyst Bill Kurelic said that he could "very well still end up at Ohio State."

At 6'3", 220 pounds and the No. 10 linebacker in the nation for the class of 2013, Anzalone is a hot commodity in the recruiting market. He still holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, Stanford, USC and West Virginia, among others.

Right. The school is not responsible for what the recruit does when the "official visit" is over. He was with staff and members of the University during the spring game, where he committed. He then met Waugh afterwards with other recruits and team players. I don't understand why his dad was so angry with the school, but I'm sure he realized how idiotic he sounded and that's why he retracted his comments.

I understand dads want whats best for their kid, but really, what's best is for his kid to go pro and make millions...if he's good enough...OSU is on TV and gets recognition..Penn St is not going to be on tV
