Sooners lose Tyler Evans to another ACL tear
Evans, who tore his ACL last August during fall camp, re-injured the same knee during a non-contact drill last Tuesday. Coach Bob Stoops confirmed over the weekend that he will be out for the rest of the season.
"Very unfortunate for him," Stoops said via The Oklahoman. He also indicated to reporters that his "football future is now uncertain."
The Sooners have been plagued with injuries among the offensive line as of late. Last year, they were forced to shuffle players around often with the loss of three starters throughout the regular season.
This looks to be the case once again after center Gabe Ikard suffered an injury to his hand last week, while Evans’ absence will force yet another unwanted switch at right guard.
Evans, a senior, is contemplating retirement instead of applying for medical hardship for another year of eligibility.
