German weightlifter Matthias Steiner wasn't able to finish out his set of lifts in London, but I don't think anyone will think any less of him for it.
During his second lift, Steiner was attempting to lift 196kg (about 432 lbs) and collapsed under the weight.
The bar fell and hit Steiner on the head, and rolled down to his neck and nearly pinned him underneath the bar as it dropped to the ground.
Steiner actually showed remarkable instincts and flexibility to get out from under the bar, and was able to walk away under his own power.
Not surprisingly, he cited "neck and back pains" as the reason for missing his 3rd attempt, but he's probably lucky he didn't have it a lot worse than that.
