Two shot, one killed at shooting outside KC Royals' stadium

Our thoughts. prayers, and sympathies go out to the family of an unidentified female parking lot attendant shot on the job earlier today outside the Kansas City Royals' Kauffman Stadium. She was shot by an ex-boyfriend who, according to police, then killed himself.

The Royals are scheduled to play the Los Angeles Angels tonight at 7:10 p.m. CDT. Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reports that the game will still be played as usual.

Royals jokes can wait for another day. Early accounts are sketchy, but this appears to a be a murder-suicide. The shooting victim, identified only as an African-American woman in her 40s, works as a parking attendant at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City as a part-time second job.  The ex-boyfriend, a male in his 40s, shot her in the abdomen, then returned to his car and fatally shot himself.

The woman was on the job at the time. She was quickly taken away in an ambulance, during which time she was breathing and did not need to be revived. She is reported as currently in critical condition.

The shooting took place in Lot A of Kauffman Stadium, an area shared with the Kansas City Chiefs' adjacent Arrowhead Stadium.

If you're in Kansas City and attending tonight's game, you advised to use Parking Gate 3 or 4, and avoid the police and emergency crews at Parking Gate 2.
