Ah, the joys of Free Agency. Players, released from the teams, at random, at the start of free agency. Scampering like white rats from a sack, these players, over 100 to mention, to be added to named of people, who will never play again, or for that matter, someone thought was expendable.
My own view, of course, has good points, but like any team, there's pickups that just hurt.
As Free Agency started, we knew what we needed. A WR. A O line pickup. Some defensive help.
Right away, we snagged a guy, fresh from the super bowl, Wilson, Safety.
Some might ask, why this pick would hurt....well, the guy that he probably replaced, is a guy known better as Stu. Stuart Schweigert, would play with a lot of heart. Great team guy. Hard worker. But, the problem, was on the field, he had problems. And, like others, it was catching up with him.
Another guy, on the rumor mill to move, was Huff....word hasnt' come back yet, if he'll be dealt, or with the move, if he'll stay put.
Another name, brought to the party, was Porter. Jerry, the WV standout, had a couple good seasons, but never properly fit in, as the heir apparent to Tim Brown.....like anyone could replace him.
McCown, who was rumored to be sticking around Oakland, left to the Dolphins....a little shock, as I heard the Raiders hoped to keep him to help Russell's transition game go forward....but, apparently, he didnt' want to stick around longer.
And in all this chaos.....only one player's landed in Oakland.
The one WR, I was hoping for, Berrian, wound up landing in Minnesota....I can imagine the Bears are hating that right now.
And for added injury, the Raiders lost out on Clemons, a well developed talent, who was sorely underpaid for his talent.
And on marches the madness.
