Monday 3/31
Thought that opening day might not happen because of the rain. Maybe we should have waited a day.. Fukudome proved that he doesn't need to speak the language because he definitely lets his bat do the talking. Even with Fukudome's home run the Cubs went on to lose to the Brewers 4-3.
It was also deemed Ernie Banks day with the unveiling of his statue outside of Wrigley Field. Ernie also took to the mike to sing, "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch. Congratulations, Mr. Cub you deserve it!
4/1 Day Off For The Cubs
4/2
Derrek Lee and Geovany Soto each hit their first homers of the season, but the Cubs were unable to cash in elsewhere and dropped their second straight to the NL Central-rival Brewers to open the season. Left-handed starter Ted Lilly allowed four runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings. The Final score Brewers 8 Cubs 2.
4/3
Aramis Ramirez notched his first hit and homer, and Ryan Dempster shook off a shaky first to toss six strong innings in his return to the rotation, as the Cubs won the opening finale (6-3). Alfonso Soriano had two RBIs batting leadoff, and Kerry Wood earned his first career save.
We are now 5th place in the Central Division standings with the win/loss record of 1-4 after losing to the Astros yesterday 4-3.
