Oregon Falls Victim to the Thursday Night Jinx, Injuries, and Brady Leaf Sucking

Brady Leaf is the second best quarterback the Oregon Ducks have?

It's unfortunate Dennis Dixon had to leave the game early with a knee injury and we'll never know how the game would have concluded with his presence. OK, maybe we do. It'd have been a route. It's also a shame that Brady Leaf and the Oregon defense couldn't step up in their Heisman candidate's absence.

Many potential national title contenders have been bit by the injury bug so there should be no excuses. Football is the ultimate team sport and it takes a full 85 to pull off the BCS Title.

It'll be interesting to see how far the Ducks fall in the polls, but we can assume they are out of the hunt. I suspect they'll fall down to 7 or 8. If Brady Leaf is forced to play the final two games it could get even worse. Leaf was 22 of 46 with 2 interceptions making his brother on the sidelines proud.

We also should assume the Heisman is out for Dennis Dixon, although I'm actually willing to give him more credit now knowing his impact on the team.

It'll be an interesting weekend. My guess is that Oregon won't be the only Top 10 team to fall. Whether our teams win or lose, I think we can agree on one thing -- College football is awesome.

Arizona 34, Oregon 24

Early word from the Duck camp is a hyperextension. Dixon has been clearly head and shoulders above Leaf since fall camp. When you never play, what do you expect?

Now, word is Dixon is done. There are no guarantees in life and football.

I feel really bad for Dixon. I hate to see a top team go down because of a injury to a star and the backup just being terrible. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

I don't see why Dixon needs to be out of the Heisman hunt. He'll miss what, two games and the bowl? If anything, seeing Oregon without him last night makes me feel he deserves the Heisman even more!

I don't see why either, but just going from history I can't find a Heisman winner who must a few games, particularly the final two.
