Oregon State quarterback Sean Mannion will have knee surgery and is expected to miss some time to recover, reports Pardeep Toor of SB Nation.Sept. 22, 2012; Pasadena, CA, USA; Oregon State Beavers quarterback Sean Mannion (4) sets to pass during the first quarter of the game against the UCLA Bruins at the Rose Bowl. Mannion, a sophomore, has led his team to a 4-0 record while averaging 339.5 yards per game (8th in NCAA). The Beavers are currently ranked No. 10 in the AP Top 25.

This could be detrimental to an offense that needs to keep up with the high-scoring opponents in the Pac-12. It's not certain how long he'll be out, but an extended period of time could prove dire against Arizona State, Stanford, and Oregon.

Junior Cody Vaz is expected to take over the role under center. He hasn't seen action since his freshman season in 2010, where he finished 6-of-17 (35.3 percent) for 48 yards.
