You may be wondering why the Baltimore Orioles traded Miguel Tejada to the Houston Astros for an uninspiring group consisting of Luke Scott, Matt Albers, Troy Patton, third base prospect Mike Costanzo. I'd don't think it's just coincidence that this trade comes 24 hours before the Mitchell Investigation report becomes available to the media. I fully expect Tejada's name to appear on that list and the Astros are left with a skeptical fan base. On that other hand, perhaps they won't care and will only judge their new short stop based on his production in a new environment. It's a situation Miguel has been welcoming for over two years.
Tejada's power numbers have dropped three straight seasons; a number I'd expect to even continue in the tiny Minute Maid Park. It looks like the Orioles got nothing in return for their former All-Star short stop, but I'd call it addition by subtraction. Point Baltimore. Your thoughts?
