Remember 2005, the year the Sox went all the way with the guidance from the man who didn't "give a (bleep)''? And remember the scorching start the Sox got off to in 06', only to fade down the stretch after their beloved manager took mandatory anger management classes as assigned by commissioner Bud "Light" Selig? And remember the disastrous 07' campaign, where the more laid-back-then-ever Ozzie and Co. faltered to 90 losses?
So why should Sox fans be excited about the 08' season like I am?
Just yesterday in a postgame interview, a reporter asked Ozzie about his first ejection of the year, and Guillen went on a tirade on home plate umpire Phil Cuzzi, who is responsible for Ozzie's last two ejections, including Monday's home opener. He said that he and Cuzzi "don't like each other" and that whenever Cuzzi's umping at home plate, "everyone knows I'm going to be ejected." He then took it to a more personal level calling Phil Cuzzi "unprofessional".
Hypocritical? Yes, but who "gives a (bleep)!" This to Sox fans can only mean one thing...Ozzie is finally back to being Ozzie! This along with a solid 5 game winning streak (snapped Wenesday, longer than any streak we had last year), is a great sign of things to come. I know it's only one week, but I like the Sox's chances to take the AL Central.
