PSG star Ezequiel Lavezzi ends rumors of return to Napoli
Paris Saint Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi claims he has no intentions of leaving the club in the near future. The Argentina international admits he is comfortable playing for the Ligue 1 champions and being able to lead “a normal life” in Paris.
Ezequiel Lavezzi, who arrived at the French capital from Napoli last summer, has been linked with a number of European clubs. Paris Saint-Germain are uninterested in putting him up for sale, but they will obviously show an ear to those who are willing to pay a considerable amount of money for the 28-year-old winger.
Napoli have shown great interest in re-signing the Argentinean following an injury plagued season. Paris Saint-Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti sees Ezequiel Lavezzi as an essential part of his squad, which is why he is unwilling to put him up for trade.
In spite of being picking up injuries regularly, Ezequiel Lavezzi managed to pick up 42 appearances and produced 11 goals and 11 assists this season. In a recent interview to L’Equipe, Ezequiel Lavezzi confirmed he had handed in no transfer request since he is happy with his life in France.
“I spent five years with Napoli and I was passionate about the club, but I did not have the privacy I needed for a normal life,” Ezequiel Lavezzi said. “That is also why I wanted a change last year. At Paris I remain a footballer but I can find again a normal life.
“My intention is to stay in Paris. But we all know the old adage that in football you never know what can happen. Maybe I will spend a lot of time at PSG. Maybe not. Our lives are about transfer rumours. That is why I remain very calm about the rumours over our coach Carlo Ancelotti.”
Ezequiel Lavezzi admits he wants his former teammate Edinson Cavani to become his partner up front once again, but claims the Uruguayan will have to join Paris Saint-German for that to happen.
“Maybe I will play again with Edinson Cavani,” Ezequiel Lavezzi said. “Such a striker would increase PSG's quality. It would be great fun to join him again.”
