Pac-10 Takes Hardwood Series Lead, Big Weekend of Hoops Ahead
READ MORE:
Your almost daily recap of college hoops ...

Pac-10 and Big XII are beginning their own conference challenge that should end up fulfilling the title.

#24 USC 66, Oklahoma 55
Is it just me or is OJ Mayo only the second best freshman on his team. Sure, Mayo will score because he'll chuck it up there around 20 times a game, but Davon Jefferson took 7 less shots and score 5 more points (23).

#17 Oregon 80, Beasley's 77 OT
Good win for the Ducks on the road. Michael Beasley had his typical 24 and 12 but isn't getting a whole lot of help. Bill Walker needs to start stepping up.

Looking ahead to the huge Saturday ...

#7 Duke at Davidson -- maybe just maybe
#2 North Carolina at Kentucky -- Chance for Gillispie to earn some points
Miami U at #10 Louisville -- No homerism here, Redhawks have a chance
UConn at #19 Gonzaga -- Zags are overrated right now
Ohio State at #16 Butler - over/under on 3's taken: 45?
#15 Indiana at #22 Southern Illinois -- Yummy
Michigan at Harvard -- Greetings, Tommy Amaker

We'll have a game thread up tomorrow for those watching hoops over football.

About that Duke - Davidson game.  If Davidson can beat the press they'll definitely have a chance.  The Badgers didn't really expose this because they couldn't shoot at all, but Duke gives up a ton of wide open perimeter shots.  Hopefully they can pull it off.

They'll have to shoot lights out from 3-range, which as we've seen before, is entirely possible. But there stands a better chance Duke runs them out of the gym. Those bastards.

Before last week, I thought SIU would beat Indiana, but man, USC made the Salukis look dreadful. SIU will have a hard time scoring points.

St. Joes almost upset Zaga. U Conn should handle them easily.
