Since today may be the slowest sports sports day of the year, that means you're going to get yet another Brett Favre story because it's pretty much the only thing going on.In case you were wondering what Wisconsinites think of the Favre situation, apparently someone - by which I mean an automated telephone machine - managed to get responses from just under 10,000 state residents for their take on Favre this past Sunday.
They were asked three simple questions:
1. What should Favre's role be with the Packers this season? Almost 33 percent said he should start, almost 19 percent said he should be the backup, 14 percent said he should be a player/coach and 34 percent said he should remain retired.
2. Should the Packers trade Favre? 73 percent said no.
3. Would feel betrayed if Favre won a Super Bowl playing for another team? 54% said yes.
So, in other words, a lot of people want to still see him on the team, but they aren't sure whether he should start or not, but they think maybe he should just stay retired.
In conclusion: people are idiots.
The good news at least for Packers fans at least is that they'll never see number 3 happen, even if Favre ever does manage to get on to another team.
But more seriously, what's wrong with people in Wisconsin? Is there really that little to do up there during the summer? Whatever. I just think they should have asked a 4th question which is: How many wins will this whole mess cost the Packers this year?
My guess? Hopefully all of them.
