What would be the feasibility of something like kevlar throat covers - almost like a turtleneck type-deal? When I worked at an auto parts plant, we used gloves w. kevlar when we worked the sharp-edged auto parts, and they lasted quite a while
Great reaction by Zednik to know that he needed to get to the bench quickly rather than laying on the ice, and great reaction by the medical personnel to be out there quickly to meet him. If that saved a few seconds of bleeding, that could have saved his life.
I'm glad to hear that it looks like he will be okay after having a scary injury like that.
Zednik possibly saved his own life by having the courage to put his hand to his neck and skate right to the team bench...the rate that blood was coming out, 2 seconds could have made the difference...THANK GOD he is ok!!

You could probably do it, but I'd imagine that most players would not like that since it would be incredibly uncomfortable to wear during a game. Accidents like this one have been so infrequent in the history of the sport that they wouldn't make it mandatory, even if it did exist.
You should patent the idea though, just in case they do consider it
It was hard to watch and it's one of those rare incidents that happens in hockey. The last time I remember something similar happening in the NHL , I think it was a goalie for Washington and it happened in the late 80's or early 90's.
