Panthers rebuilding themselves, Roberto Luongo their testament
Brisson thought carefully before seeing where he had to place the player and the Panthers have been rebuilding themselves. Luongo was on the same path and now he is the face of the Panthers rebuilding process.
Brisson said that he thought carefully before making a decision where to place the player, saying it had to be smart. He added that Luongo wanted a team which had future and the Panthers were on the right path so he seemed like the perfect fit for them.
"It had to be a hockey move. Roberto wants to play, wants to win. He wants to compete and win. ... When Roberto asked me, I said, 'I do believe that there's a light at the end of the tunnel for (the Panthers),” said Brisson. “I do believe there's a place where this team is going to go in the right direction."
The Panthers have been doing well and Luongo has played two games with them. Those have shown him and the franchise getting along well and both are expected to do well.
Luongo said that he was committed to the team and wanted things to turn out well over here with the Panthers.
"It's all about making a commitment to bringing some people in and trying to build a winner," Luongo said Sunday following the match against Boston Bruins that night. "That's what it's all about for me. I'm not here to fade into the sunset. I want to be part of something special coming here."
