Game 7. Win or go home. New Orleans stayed home after dropping the series finale, 91-82. The Spurs' repeat hopes continue, carried by their leading scorer, Manu Ginobili, who scored 26 points and made crucial free throws to put the game away. Tony Parker added 17, who also made a huge mid-range jumper with time running low in the game. Chris Paul posted 18 points and dished out 14 assists in his last game of the season, several being alley-oops to big man Tyson Chandler. Peja Stojakovic struggled from the field, and the Hornets broke down in the 3rd, ultimately deciding the quarter, game, and the series. The win also gave Spurs coach Gregg Popovich 100 playoff victories, moving him into a tie with Larry Brown for third on the career list.
This is the first time that the Spurs have made it to the Conference Finals after winning an NBA championship. Hornets are 0-5 in Semifinal series, and the home team streak was snapped, and the final tally was 22-3. All top seeds advanced, except the Hornets.
San Antonio will fly straight to Los Angeles following showers and post-game interviews, and rest tomorrow in preperation for Game 1 on Wednesday night at Staples.
