If Pat Riley is trying to let us know he'd rather do just about anything other than coach the Miami Heat then I'd say his work is done.
Wednesday night Riley said he should be writing checks to Heat fans, paying them back for their seats because of his team's lack of professionalism. He might as well have brought a white flag to the post-game press conference wearing a should that read 'I don't give a damn.'
"I think this is a pretty significant year. I've seen all these guys on film. I want to see them in person once or twice. If I can do it without missing games, I'll do it. There's a possibility I might miss a couple (of games). I'll be flying in and out. But I think right now I've got to do that."
Who could blame him? I'd rather spend my month watching the Michael Beasleys and Derrick Roses of the world. But he is the head coach of the Heat and don't they have, you know, scouts for this kind of work?
