Blog Photo - Patriots owner Robert Kraft questioned Bill Belichick's decision in overtime win over the BroncosWhen Bill Belichick gave the Broncos the ball in overtime of Sunday night's game, it was a highly unconventional move. Coaches have been fired for doing that in the past when it backfired.

Patriots owner Bob Kraft had a little doubt as well, and some in his luxury box even went so far as to suggest that he give Belichick a call and let him know what he thought of the decision on the spot.

Even some of the Patriots captains were incredulous when Belichick told them the plan.

Still, with the way the wind was blowing that night, the Patriots made the decision that, in Belichick's mind, gave them an extra 20 yards to work with if they needed to kick a potential game-winning field goal.

Also, thankfully for the Patriots, their defense and special teams stepped up in a huge way, holding the Broncos to almost zero production whatsoever in overtime and then recovering a muffed punt return, giving the Patriots the ball in the red zone with 5 minutes left in the overtime period.

Then we know what happened. But in case you missed it, here's the video that I was able to capture from section 121:

Belichick has had a history of questionable and/or bold decisions. Some have worked out, like this one. Others, like the 4th and 2 against Manning back in 2009, didn't end so well. But that's part of what makes him a great coach. Here in New England, we wouldn't have it any other way.
