One of the best weekends of football in the entire year his finally here—the NFL Conference Championship weekend. Four teams—two games—and a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. The only down side to all of this excitement is the sobering reminder that there are only three football games left in the season. Yes. Only three games left—which also means, there are only three more chances to bet on the NFL. So, before we go into a deep depression over the lack of football, let’s take a look at some of the best prop bets for the Patriots versus Ravens game this weekend.

Will the Patriots or the Ravens score within the first 5 1/2 minutes of the game?

Will either team score in the first 5 ½ minutes
Yes: -120
No: even
The last two times these teams met—during Week 3 and last years Conference Championship game—there was not a score until deep into the first quarter. The Ravens play great defense, and each team usually uses the first few drives of the game as a feeling out process. Neither team wants to make a huge mistake early in the game. ‘No’, should be a huge favorite here. Prediction: Take the ‘No’.
Team to score first
Ravens: +150
Patriots: -175
The last two times these teams played the Patriots scored first both times. The Ravens typically start off games pounding the ball with their running backs just to get a rhythm going, before they start unleashing their passing game and long bombs from Flacco. The only trouble with this wager is that the odds are so high, and, considering, that anything can happen during a football game, I don’t see too much value in the bet. Prediction: The Pats will probably score first, but don’t bet on it.
First score of the game will be
Touchdown: -175
Any other score: +150
Again, let’s refer to the last couple of times these two teams played. In both of those meetings the first scores of the game were field goals. The odds on a TD being the first score are just too expensive, and you are getting a great price at +150 for betting on a field goal. This game will probably be a high scoring affair, but don’t expect that to start until later in the game. Prediction: Bet on the ‘field goal’, you are getting excellent odds.
Shortest Touchdown of the game
Over 1.5 yards: even
Under 1.5 yards: -120
I don’t have any data to fall back on for this wager, but taking over 1.5 yards seems like the smart bet. This is the AFC Championship game—points will be at a premium. I would expect Belichick and Harbaugh to kick a field goal if they were facing a fourth and goal at the one yard line. Prediction: Over 1.5 yards at even money is just a juicy bet.
Longest made Field Goal of the game
Over 44.5: -115
Under 44.5: -115
Picking this wager is probably just a shot in the dark, but, doesn’t it seem like a desperation 49 yard field goal to end the half or even the game, is bound to happen? Prediction: this could go either way, but I love the over.
