I don't see that it made any sense to throw Yates to the wolves today when we didn't need to in the end, and especially since we're going to need him to play a pretty big part in whatever is left of our tattered season. Look at the job the team has done this year in overcoming a lot of injuries to key contributors...look at the fact that we won, on the road, with our rookie 3rd-string QB...c'mon Crash...cut Kubiak just a bit of a break. A season like this, in any previous year, and the Texans would've been out of the race long ago.
I get your point Jan, but Ol' Gary has a horrible habbit of playing "not to lose" instead of playing to win. I have no problem with taking your foot off the gas when the game is out of reach, but Kubiak quit too early for my tastes.Save Yates for later, but if you are gonna run the ball down their throats, do it with both barrells. Ben Tate was a non-factor all day. As great as our defense played yesterday had it not been for a bone-headded coaching move by Jack Del Rio at the end of the game it would have been even closer than it was. And if you can't put away a piss poor Jacksonville squad, what are we gonna do when we have to deal with the big boys of the conference in the playoffs?
11/27/11 | HouTxFan | 4119 respect
The "dangerous and powerful" Jags are horrible on offense, but they had the 5th-ranked defense coming in to this game. We were down to our 3rd-string rookie QB Yates, with TE Owen Daniels in line to be next-QB-up for the remainder of the game. Yates was given the reins/playcalls to run the 2-minute offense at the end of the first half, and he got us into FG range. Rackers' kick gave us the two-score lead (20-10) with a half to play. Assuming Kubiak found out at least by halftime that Leinart would not be returning to the game, he knew that Yates could at least move the ball if needed. I think he then made the wise decision to rely first on our #1-ranked defense to hold the Jags offense and put the game away, rather than put Yates in a position to make mistakes that could cost us the game.

I don't see that it made any sense to throw Yates to the wolves today when we didn't need to in the end, and especially since we're going to need him to play a pretty big part in whatever is left of our tattered season. I'm gonna give a nod to KC's secondary. They're the only thing keeping the Chiefs in this game. If not for them the Steelers have 24 or more and the game is over already.

Me either. I have to work something out for next season so that I can see the Steelers play somewhere. My preference is in Pittsburgh, but whatever it takes....
And I'm surprised the score is no reflection of how poorly KC's offense has performed tonight.

Good afternoon. Welcome to Sarcasm. 101. Enjoy. The Houston Texans, after losing first and second string QB's defeat the always dangerous and powerful Jacksonville Jaguars 20-13 behind the masterful play calling of Coach of the Year front runner Gary Kubiak. (The code of conduct won't allow me to give my true feelings but a win is a win I guess).

2. When are the Jets gonna finally admit that Mark Sanchez BLOWS? And, the announcers quit talking like he's a rookie?
Got to wonder if there was another QB option in Jets land besides the ancient one Brunell , if Sanchez wouldn't have been benched already , or at least a whole lot more heat being put on him and the team media wise !

An hour plus late, but my Sunday snark has been off for too long. Assume these for written before the games kicked off.
1:00 PM GAMES:
Minnesota at Atlanta: No Purple Jesus equal No Chance for the Vikes.
Cleveland at Cincinnati: While they didn't beat either Pittsburgh or Baltimore, the Bengals at least showed that they weren't total flukes early in the season. Now they get the AFC North's red headed step-child. Easy win or classic trap game?
Tampa Bay at Tennessee: I'd be more inclined to believe the Titans can take advantage of the Houston injury issues if they hadn't showed next to nothing the previous week. Tampa meanwhile can just be happy not to have a super tough opponent.
Carolina at Indianapolis: Cam Newton versus a horrid Colts defense keeps this from the dog designation. Just be sure to watch only when Carolina has the ball.
Buffalo at N.Y. Jets: An elimination game of sorts. The winner will be 6-5 and at least in the conversation for the playoffs, while the loser will be 5-6 and be muttering to themselves what went horribly horribly wrong.
Arizona at St. Louis: Woof.
Houston at Jacksonville: Just when Texans fans thought it was safe to think playoffs, here comes Matt Leinart! Making things worse, Jacksonville's bad, but still just good enough to muck up a game and keep it close (ask the Ravens).
4:00 PM GAMES:
New England at Philadelphia: The way the Eagles season has gone, would anyone be surprised if Vince Young led them to a bunch of wins in a row?
Denver at San Diego: The voodoo magic of Tim Tebow meets the special ability of Norv to mess things up means the outcome here is preordained.
Washington at Seattle: If you love seeing Mike Shanahan get red faced and pissed off after Rex Grossman throws another interception, this is the game for you!
SUNDAY NIGHT GAME:
Pittsburgh at Kansas City: Not recommended for those who hate the Steelers.
