Sources have revealed that the San Antonio Spurs are on the brink of adding Patty Mills to their roster. The news leaked out through a club insider recently. According to reports guard Mills has already agreed to the lucrative offer.

The 23-year-old was just recently cleared by the Chinese Basketball Association after Mills showed intentions of returning to NBA. Rumor has it, Mills will ink the contract within the next 24 hours bur after the Portland Trail Blazers renounce rights on the player.

By signing Mills Spurs will retreat from their bidding war for Derek Fisher. Spurs were eager to bring the veteran into their team, which has lacked an experienced guard on the court recently.

Houston Rockets are now expected to pick up Fisher, who was earlier traded off by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Spurs have been desperate for guard with impressive shooting abilities after T. J. Ford announced his retirement. Ford’s departure left All-Star point guard Tony Parker without a partner on the court.

Spurs planned to create a formidable partnership between Parker and Fisher. Nonetheless, the board and coach will be happy to sign in Mills too.

Mills has played in 74 games for the Trail Blazers from 2009-2011. During this period, Mills has scored 35.8 percent of the time he shot a 3-pointer.

Mills, who is an Australian, will be with Spurs assistant coach and former coach of Australia’s national team, Brett Brown. Mills’ compatriot, Brown has heaped praise on the youngster and believes he will have a bright future with Spurs.

Prior to the Spurs development, Mills was in serious contract negotiations with the Rockets.

Mills was the 55th pick in the 2nd Round of Drafts from 2009. Mills has also played for the Idaho Stampede, the Melbourne Tigers and the Xinjiang Flying Tigers.
