Pau Gasol For Andrew Bynum Trade Being Discussed
Former teammates Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum are being discussed in a trade, ever since the Cleveland Cavaliers have made it known that Bynum is on the block. The Los Angeles Lakers have also been unsatisfied with Pau Gasol’s performance as of late, especially in light of Kobe Bryant’s absence.
The two teams have until January 7th to make a deal, in order for Bynum’s full $12.25 million to be guaranteed.
If the Lakers did trade for Bynum, they would in all likelihood waive him so that they could save $20 million and avoid the luxury tax. However, reports indicate that the Lakers want more than just Bynum in the trade, which probably translates in the form of future draft picks.
Gasol has been suffering from a respiratory infection for the past few weeks and his sickness has clearly hurt his play. He has increased his play over the month of December however. So, it would behoove the Lakers to trade Gasol while they can because his stock will only continue to fluctuate. Furthermore, it actually seems like Gasol is open to moving for the first time as a Laker. Gasol has always made it known that he has wanted to stay in Los Angeles, but after all that he has gone through with this organization, it appears that Gasol's relationship with the Lakers is almost non-existent.
