Via The Big Lead comes the nearly hilarious news that ESPN's personal Barry Bonds reporter would have missed the record had the mark fallen a day later.No matter what happened, Gomez was flying home to Phoenix on Wednesday morning for a week off to take care of his three children while his wife traveled for work.If Barry Bonds would have known about this I'm certain he would have waiting another day just to spite the network. How awesomely ironic this could have been; the guy who has followed Bonds nearly every day since January of 2005 would miss the pinnacle of the slugger's media coverage.
