The prevailing wisdom was that the addition of Johan Santana would take significant pressure off of Pedro Martinez and the two would become a formidable 1-2 punch in the NL East. It didn't take any pressure off Pedro's hamstring.
Congratulations if you had 4 innings or less in the '1st Pedro Martinez Injury Pool,' as the Mets No. 2 starter was forced to leave his start in Miami after 3 1/3.
The good news is this injury has nothing to do with his surgically repaired shoulder. The bad news is 36-year-old hamstring don't heal quickly, or well, without the aid of illegal substances. Always respected Pedro for never going that route, even if it means more stints on the DL.
A substantial IF just got bigger, but we won't rush to judgment as it is game two, after all.
As far as the game itself, some guy named Robert Andino hit a walk off HR in the bottom of the 10th for a Marlins win in front of hundreds.
