Penn State offensive lineman gets 6th year of eligibility
Gilliam suffered a torn ACL in 2010 that forced him to miss more than half of the season. Unfortunately the same knee formed an infection, setting him back the entire 2011 season, too.
"I'm very excited to be able to continue to help Penn State and to be a part of such an important period in our history," Gilliam said in a statement.
In 2012, Gilliam appeared in 10 games as a tight end – he caught seven passes for 65 yards. However, he will be used as a lineman for the 2013 season.
At 6-foot-6, 265 pounds, he will have to add some weight, but will serve as a solid offensive tackle to replace some key departures on the line.
