13th Penn State Player Leaves Program

Penn State coach Bill O'Brien said earlier this week that he will stand by his place kicker Sam Ficken, who missed four field goals and had an extra point attempt blocked in the 17-16 loss to Virginia.Blog Photo - Penn State Football: PK Marcincin Leaves Program

Now he has no choice.

Backup kicker Matt Marcincin was taken off the roster Thursday after leaving the team, reports SB Nation. The redshirt freshman walk-on is still enrolled in school.

Marcincin is the 13th member of the Nittany Lions football program to depart from the program following the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

Ficken and walk-on Kevin DiSanto are the only remaining kickers on the roster. O'Brien and the rest of the Penn State staff will hold open tryouts next week.
