The name Pep Guardiola has been more than just a whisper in Manchester. The former Barcelona manager is seen by many as the successor to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. As the days of the Scotsman approach it’s imminent, Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to name his successor by the end of the season.

Pep Guardiola, who is enjoying his vacations with his family in New York, has once again been linked to the Manchester United job. Earlier in the season Sir Alex Ferguson expressed intentions of managing Manchester United for at least three more years, but the fact of the matter is that he would have to pick up a good successor when opportunity knocks on his door.
 
Earlier this week Pep Guardiola reaffirmed on his earlier statements that he would initiate his job hunt in the summers next year. Well, Manchester United are in good position to compete for the Champions League and Premier League trophies, which means Sir Alex Ferguson could name his successor at he end of the season.

Pep Guardiola has already proven that he can defeat the Scottish maestro, having achieved this task in two Champions League finals. The Spaniard has also hinted desired to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
 
The 70-year-old boss of Old Trafford has been in charge of Manchester United for over 26 years now. Sir Alex Ferguson has waited a long time to hand over the keys to a new guardian. The summer of 2012 will be an appropriate time for the Scotsman to take action on this matter.
