I'm a fan of self-deprecating humor, but occasionally it comes across as a cry for help. See: CSTV's Pete Gillen's column for the NY Post on Tuesday.
The former Virginia, Xavier, and Providence head coach began his column with a rather depressing intro:
"WELL, even though Georgetown is gone, three of my Final Four teams are alive - which is unusual. I've had a bad decade - I got fired, no friends, no money, no clothes. But since I'm due, I'll take a look at the Sweet 16:"Some get this man a job. A real one.
Maybe this is just Pete's style, I don't know him well, but that crossed over from funny to pathetic. I suppose that explains why he's working with the New York Post. Working for CBS' College Sports division (CSTV) may not be the crème de la crème, but as Sports by Brooks points out, at least wait until you're stuck working with Billy Packer before your desperate cry for employment.
Someone make sure this man is being watched closely at all times.
