Blog Photo - Peyton Manning breaks single season TD pass recordThe record was Peyton Manning's. Tom Brady took it in the 16-0 2007 season. Today Manning took it back. His four touchdown passes in a 37-13 win over the Texans gave him 51 touchdown passes for this season, one more than Brady's previous record of 50.

The record breaker came with 4:28 remaining on a 25 yard pass to Julius Thomas. Manning has tied the record barely two and a half minutes of game time prior, helped by a fantastic catch by Eric Decker. Manning is also up to 5211 yard passing for the season, 266 away from the record currently held by Drew Brees. Denver concludes the regular season in Oakland.

More importantly for the long-term success of the Broncos, the win today plus the Chiefs loss clinches them the AFC West, as well a first round bye. In the end for Peyton and Broncos, it's what happens in January that truly matters.
