OK.  Since it only happens about once every fourteen years, I need to enjoy this.  I also need to share my happiness with my Phellow Phillies Phans and the rest of the world.

I've been a Phillies Phan as long as I've known what baseball was.  I'll save you all the story of my life-long love affair with the Phils, but I will say I can remember (although I was 6) the Phillies clinching the title in 1980.  I can remember my Phirst game (against the Astros).  And I can remember the pain of watching Mitch Williams serve up a gopher ball in 1993.

Needless to say, life was a little better today.  I knew it was going to be a good week when I got to work and started catching grief about the Eagles from co-workers. (ugh....I'll worry about them after October).  All I could do was smile - because my Phillies had done the impossible.  While I would much rather have beat the Mets outright, I'll surely take a historic collapse.  I think they owed us one, anyway.  After the painful Septembers the last couple of years, it's nice to Phinally be on this side of the ledger.

It's easier to smile this week in the face of all the Mets fans that were sure of another Philly Phalter.  This week it's easier to wink and nod at all of the fans around the country that only choose to see Philly Phans as those rabid, obnoxious Phans that curse at children and pelt Santa Claus with snowballs.  (I've got a story about that one, too, that I'll refrain Phrom sharing)

My message to all the Phillies Phans of the world - enjoy this week!  I'm all Phor a continued Phillies run, but I refuse to deny myself the joy of the moment by worrying about the Rockies or the Padres.  After the way the Phils have been playing the past few weeks, there's only one National League team that's hotter and they still have to qualify to get in!  The moral I take from this story is that anything's possible!
