Phil Jackson turns down another coaching job
It turns out that the rumors were indeed true. The Brooklyn Nets did reached out to Phil Jackson after they fired interim head coach P.J. Carlesimo, however, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, “After connecting with Brooklyn today, Phil Jackson informed organization that he has no interest in coaching job, league source says. Phil Jackson's inclination remains to return to the NBA in a broader management role.”
It seems as though, Phil’s coaching days are over and that he wants to assume more of a Jerry West and Pat Riley role for an organization. Which organization, however, remains to be seen. But if Phil is as good of a manager as he is as a coach, there is no reason why teams outside of the playoffs shouldn’t think about reaching out to him. Of course, just because Phil may be good at coaching superstar personalities and talents, it doesn’t mean that he is good at managing superstar personalities and talents.
