The Philadelphia Eagles have prudently re-signed key players to their roster and brought in a couple of talented youngster to fill in the gaps in the team’s offensive and defensive departments. Overall, the Philadelphia Eagles have done well in the off season, however there is still one issue left on their list of to-do-things and that is LeSean McCoy’s contract.
Undoubtedly, a contract negotiation with LeSean McCoy is the biggest issue on the list. Many NFL analysts believe LeSean McCoy should not sign in a new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. According to the NFL analysts the decision would limit LeSean McCoy’s potential.
DeSean Jackson believes so too. According to DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy should not hold out for a new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. In a recent interview DeSean Jackson explained that he inked a new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles which was a great decision.
On the other hand, the Philadelphia Eagles will always benefit from LeSean McCoy’s stay decision to stay even if the franchise has a replacement for the player. According to Jeff McLane from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Eagles have been in contact with LeSean McCoy ever since the season ended.
Jeff McLane stated that LeSean McCoy’s agent Drew Rosenhaus had told him that the franchise and the player had been in “productive” negotiations since the end of the season.
“No one is frustrated at this point,” said McLane’s source. “It's not like either side has stomped away upset. But there's a ways to go.”
It is still not clear whether LeSean McCoy will report for Philadelphia Eagles training camp if he doesn’t have a new contract by then. Last week, DeSean Jackson advised LeSean McCoy to refrain from inking a new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.
“I think it would be in his best interest to come” Jackson said. “Looking back now it really hurt me more than I thought it helped me. Hopefully he saw everything I went through, and hopefully Drew won’t have him go through the same thing. . . . I just hope he doesn’t take it there with the team because the Eagles are a team you don’t want to try force anything with them or strong-arm them.”
DeSean Jackson and Drew Rosenhaus might not be the perfect men to give advice about contracts, following their fiascos with the Philadelphia Eagle, nonetheless LeSean McCoy should move out to a better team if he has an opportunity in hand.
