Philadelphia Phillies Versus Los Angeles Dodgers Game 4 NLCS Live Thread [2008 MLB Playoffs]
Must-Win For The Dodgers Tonight. At Least The Phillies Are Sending A Senior Citizen To The Mound
Manny Being Manny:

Game 3 of the NLCS is tonight. The Dodgers are down 2-0 in the series so far to the Phillies, and Hiroki Kuroda (9-10, 3.73) will try to give the Dodgers a chance against 46-year old Jamie Moyer (16-7, 3.71).

The Phillies took the first two games at home, but will now have to take their show on the road to LA. Moyer's postseason record is 3-2, with a 2.67 ERA. Kuroda went 6+ scoreless innings in his postseason debut against the Cubs.

69% of FanIQ picked the Dodgers to win. They'll need to, because only one team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in a best of 7 series in MLB history. I also think the Dodgers will win, and think that this will be a high-scoring affair, much like Friday's 8-5 Phillies win.

My prediction: Dodgers win, 9-7

Discuss it here, or on the game page. Enjoy. Because as you've probably heard a few thousand times, there's only one October.

Ugh....guess the Dodgers came to play tonight.  Wow.  5-0 early isn't a good sign.

LOL well done Dodger Stadium playing "Why can't we be friends?" during the fight.

Throwing at someone intentionally is stupid to begin with, but doing it in the playoffs is even dumber.  Wow.  That got out of hand fast.  But it's good for ratings.

I wonder what everyone was so upset about.....Victorino was a little steamed, but I didn't think it was that bad.

I thought Victorino seemed incredibly reasonable about the whole thing.  It looked like Davey Lopes was the one who made it escalate.

Agreed.  Don't know what he was so upset about.  Also, I don't know what the heck Manny was puffing about.  If anything, I would have thought Manny would be laughing about the whole thing.

Oh well.  Won't matter a bit if the Phils can't find a couple of hits.  Not looking good for them......

Dude, you do not throw at someone's head!!!  Do you realize how much damage a 90mph baseball hitting your head does, whether you are wearing a helmet or not?  When you hit another team's player hit him in the back, ribs, leg.  Never throw at someone's head.

Victornio was saying if you are going to throw at me, do not throw at my head, hit my body.

Also, the national media over blew the whole thing.  Myers did not throw at Manny, the ball slipped out of his hand, *stuff* happens.  The Dodgers took it the wrong way, and totally blew it out of porportion.

What made the situation worse was Russell Martin, the dumb ass is stading right on the plate, does not move/attempt to get out of the way and gets hit in the knee.  He could have easily avoided getting hit, if he just stepped back while the pitch was thrown.

Do you understand Baseball?  Throwing at players has always been a part of the game....

No kidding, but it's freaking stupid.  If you want to make a point, get them out.  Don't put them on base for free and give them any chance to score.

I don't disagree with that at all.  What I was saying, is that Victorino seemed pretty OK with it.  I don't know what the heck everyone else, including most of the Dodgers, were so upset with.  They got "even", so I don't know why they were even continuing it.

Seemed like after Victorino acknoweldged that he was going to get thrown at, then it should have been over.  I don't have a problem with him telling the pitcher to hit him low.  But I considered it over after the pitch.  I was talking about the mid-inning on-field conference.  In my opinion, there wasn't anything to argue with after the pitch.
