The Phoenix Suns have signed veteran center, Jermaine O’Neal, to a one-year deal worth $1.35 million. O’Neal will replace Robin Lopez as the back up center for emerging big man Marcin Gortat.
Although O’Neal is only 33 years of age, a plethora of injuries and coming out of high school has aged the big man’s body. O’Neal only averaged 5 points and 4 rebounds for the past two years with the Boston Celtics, but he still remains a potent shot blocker at 1.5 bpg. Should O'Neal be healthy, he will provide much needed depth for the new look Suns.
The Phoenix Suns now have a brand new team with Michael Beasely, Goran Dragic, and Jermaine O’Neal, who they hope will replace Steve Nash and Grant Hill.
