Tony Gonzalez will play in the final game of his (soon to be)Hall of Fame NFL career on Sunday vs the Carolina Panthers and the NFL will present him with a really nice going away gift.
Gonzalez flirted with retirement for the past few seasons, but he ultimately decided to give it one more go with the Atlanta Falcons in hopes of winning a Super Bowl last season. Unfortunately it's been a terrible season in the ATL with the Falcons sitting at 4-11 but there is no debating he is one of the greatest tight ends to ever touch a football. On Sunday, the Falcons will honor Gonzalez with a Falcons/Chiefs combination helmet.
Gonzalez still had a nice season, especially for a 37-year old, grabbing 79 passes for 803 yards and eight touchdowns. He has missed just three games in is entire 17-year career. Tony G paved the way for pass-catching tight ends to become such a major part of the NFL offense. See ya in Canton in 5 years, Tony!
