Our weekly look at the individual AP Ballots is back again for this season. Who was the biggest homer? Who doesn't make any sense? Who actually (gasp!) deserves some credit?Jon Wilner (San Jose Mercury News)
NR. South Carolina
19. Cincinnati
22. Connecticut
I never thought I'd see it happen. From 2nd to unranked in a month. Other interesting Wilner logic resides in the Big East. I don't see how you can rank the Bearcats over the Huskies this week? Cincy has losses to Louisville and Pittsburgh in conference. UConn has losses to no one ... yet.
Homer Alert! Mike DeArmond (Kansas City Star)
4. Missouri
5. Kansas
6. LSU
Come on, Mike. Really? Tigers have more wins over ranked teams than both of your Big XII schools combined.
Ray Ratto (San Francisco Chronicle)
4. West Virginia
5. Oklahoma
This is more a matter of disagreement. Ray is one of a few voters who've been high on West F'in Virginia all year and have ranked them above Oklahoma. I'm just not buying the Mountaineers as a better football team.
Adam Van Brimmer (Savannah Morning News)
24. South Florida
After three straight losses (Rutgers, UConn, Cincinnati) I'm wondering why anyone would still rank them this week.
Doug Lesmerises (Cleveland Plain-Dealer)
8. Connecticut
9. Arizona State
10. Boston College
I don't know if tough losses this weekend to good teams should move the Sun Devils and Eagles below the Huskies.
Craig James (ABC/ESPN)
NR. Hawaii
I'm confused by a some of James positioning, but not by the exclusion of Hawaii. Please stop moving the Warriors up for beating nobody. Keep them unranked and if they roll over Boise State and Washington then consider a Top 20 spot.
My #1: Ohio State. LSU a close 2nd. You can keep pointing to the Florida loss last year and the supposed lack of competition but at least give them credit for not leaving much doubt in a single game this year.
That's all for me. Feel free to pick on a few more pollsters below and share your own rankings.
