Our weekly look at the individual AP Ballots is back again for this season. Who was the biggest homer? Who doesn't make any sense? Who actually (gasp!) deserves some credit?Scott Wolf (LA Times)
4. Texas
5. Georgia
6. Kansas
7. Florida
8. Virginia Tech
9. Ohio State
What is so great about the Longhorns this year? Maybe Wolf is still impressed by Vince Young's Rose Bowl performance.
Jon Wilner (San Jose Mercury-News)
2. Missouri
3. Georgia
5. Virginia Tech
6. Kansas
11. Ohio State
I'll give Jon credit for one thing -- he sticks with his SEC teams throughout. First it was the Gamecocks he insisted were a top 3 team, now it's the Georgia Bulldogs who are playing good football. Though, 3 spots ahead of the 11-0 Jayhawks seems a bit much.
Barker Davis (Washington Times)
1. Kansas
You can point to the SOS, as I have, but you can't give Barker too hard a time for putting the 11-0 Jayhawks #1. They've won with relative ease.
Mike DeArmond (Kansas City Star)
1. Missouri
2. Kansas
3. LSU
No surprise here, Mike has been waiting to do this since week 6. I bet he leaves it the same if Missouri beats Kansas Saturday.
Rich Kaipust (Omaha World-Herald)
1. West Virginia
2. LSU
3. Kansas
4. Missouri
Of all the possible #1 ranked options, West Virginia is the one I can back the least.
Neal McCready (Mobile Press)
7. Virginia
8. Virginia Tech
11. Oregon
12. Oklahoma
Neal has a way of sneaking an unsuspecting team into his Top 10. This week's entrant is Virginia. Nothing too impressive on their resume other than 1 point wins over Wake Forest and Connecticut. Losses to Wyoming and more recently NC State aren't befitting to a team ranked 7th. Particularly, one ahead of Oregon and Oklahoma who also have two losses but possess impressive wins.
Doug Doughty (Roanoke Times)
1. LSU
2. Ohio State
3. Kansas
4. Missouri
That's a stretch Doug. Let's wait and see how Missouri and Kansas fare against one another first.
Ray Ratto (San Francisco Chronicle)
25. Northern Iowa
Since this poll doesn't factor into the BCS, I suppose that's fine. Go ahead and be cute by giving a D1-AA school some attention, but just don't convince yourself they're actually the 25 the best team right now with that big D1 win over Iowa State. Granted, the Panthers could probably take down the Fighting Irish.
Dave Birkett (Oakland Press)
17. Oregon
That's a bit much to drop the Ducks that far down the rankings.
Myron Patten (KOKH TV - Oklahoma City)
25. Tulsa
Homer.
John Hunt (Oregonian)
25. Oregon State
See above. I love how these guys sneak in the obvious homer picks in at 25 as if no one was to notice. They must take immense pride if putting their schools into the illustrious "also receiving votes" box.
Sadly, only two weeks left for our picking on the pollsters so get your digs in while you can and be sure to share your own rankings below. I'm sticking with LSU as #1 this week with the best defense in the country against one of the toughest schedules around. Should Kansas defeat Missouri, I'll move them to up.
