Our weekly look at the individual Normally we pick apart the AP Pollsters, but now that the coaches have given some transparency to their final ballot of the season we'll surely find fault with the poll having an inpact on the BCS.
Hal Mumme (New Mexico State)
1. Hawaii
Here's where I think there's a problem with the system. Hal benefits from the Warriors being apart of the BCS so clearly he's going to do whatever he can to ensure a berth for Hawaii. Not a chance Mumme really thinks Hawaii is the best team in the country, no person outside of a mental institution believes that. Note: the other WAC coaches had Hawaii in the top 5, few others outside the conference did.
Art Briles (Houston/Baylor)
1. LSU
2. Oklahoma
3. Missouri
4. Ohio State
5. Virginia Tech
6. Georgia
I wanted to give Briles credit for putting some thought into his ballot. Just because Missouri lost two games to Oklahoma doesn't mean you drop them down into the teens which far too many coaches have done. It also doesn't mean you drop them behind Kansas, which an embarrassing amount of coaches also submitted.
Mike Leach (Texas Tech)
2. Georgia
3. Kansas
4. Oklahoma
5. LSU
22. Texas Tech
Come on, pirate. Kansas over Big XII champ? Nice work sliding your boys into the Top 22
Les Miles, Jim Tressel and Bob Stoops (LSU / Ohio State / Oklahoma)
Not that it should surprise you, but all voted themselves #1.
Mark Richt (Georgia)
2. Georgia
3. LSU
Ha.
Steve Spurrier (South Carolina)
1. Oklahoma
6. LSU
Golfing buddies with Stoops?
George O'Leary (Central Florida)
17. Central Florida
By FAR the highest anyone ranked UCF. Wonder why? Someone should check the resume he submitted to become a Coaches Poll participant.
Mike Belotti (Oregon)
24. Oregon State
25. Oregon
Way to sneak in your team at end after losing three straight to end the season. No doubt with Dixon, Oregon is top 10. How do you rank a team based on injury?
