Blog Photo - Pittsburgh Football: Three Starting Panthers Charged with AssaultThree Pittsburgh starters have been charged with simple assault and conspiracy after an incident involving other students, reports The Associated Press.

Running back Ray Graham, receiver Devin Street and defensive back Lafayette Pitts were said to have been involved in the altercation, where one student says he was struck in the head.

The players were not arrested, but will face preliminary hearing at the Pittsburgh Municipal Court Jan. 9.

It's not clear whether any of them will be disciplined on the field, but I can't imagine Paul Chryst letting something this series slide. He may not even have a choice.

Unfortunately for the Panthers, they still have to play No. 3 Notre Dame in South Bend this Saturday, with or without their star players. And at 4-4 (1-3 Big East), the next four games — and bowl eligibility — already weren't going to come easy.
