Pittsburgh Penguins in trouble as they lose third consecutive game
They had to win just one point to get a playoff spot when they faced off against the Los Angeles Kings and they failed to do so. They are now on a 3 game losing streak and are throwing away their season.
Penguins winger Chris Kunitz said that winning a game would certainly have been a good thing and instead they are now on a losing streak. He was the one who scored the first goal for the Penguins to drag them out of a 2-0 loss.
"One of those would have been nice," Kunitz said.
Los Angeles coach Darryl Sutter said that they had been doing a lot of practice lately and it was certainly a satisfying feeling to see the team dominate on the ice. He added they had given special attention to their penalty kills and it certainly proved a good thing to see it bear fruit the match.
"We practiced it this morning and we had lots of practice (in the game), too," said Darryl Sutter.
Penguins center Sidney Crosby said that one of the major reasons for losing the game was failure to properly utilize the power plays they had.
"We expect to do more on seven power plays," he said. "When you get seven in a game, that doesn't happen too often. It's too bad we couldn't make more of those."
