After returning from a missing two NFL seasons due to a prison sentence for discharging a gun New York night club in November 2008, Plaxico Burress tried to revive his career by signing with the New York Jets last year.  Plaxico Burress made 45 receptions for 612 yards and eight touchdowns paired with the New York Jets starting quarterback Mark Sanchez in 2011. However, the New York Jets released Plaxico Burress, and since then he has been making predictions or expressing burning desire to sign with teams who are subtly passing him off.

The 6-foot-5 Plaxico Burress still views a lot of prospective teams in the market for a wideout receivers and states will definitely sign with a franchise by September, but is taking it slow in the offseason to find the “good fit.”

However, It jogs one’s memory when it wasn’t long ago in February when Plaxico Burress expressed an interest in the Philadelphia Eagles, mentioning “nothing else” would make him “happier” than working with Michael Vick. But that dream never took form and Plaxico Burress has set his eyes on a new target. There’s “no doubt about it," that the Virginia native will like to return to his root this time around.

"My brother lives right there in Charlotte, my cousin lives there in Charlotte, and all my family is there in Columbia, South Carolina,” stated Plaxico Burress. “It would just be a great situation all the way around and being close to everybody.”

Although Plaxico Burress claims to have garnered interest from other AFC North teams, the Carolina Panthers have remained in the shadows till now.

“Not just that, but playing with Cam, who I think is one of the top five quarterbacks in all of football, and as long as I can remember, Steve Smith has been one of my favorites,” said Plaxico Burress, expressing his interest in the Carolina Panthers’ roster.

Plaxico Burress has been sticking to the plan he set a month ago, determining the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, and Carolina Panthers as his future targets. The 34-year-old made a shot at the New York Giants, after spending four seasons with the franchise, but got no response. Even though he cited the New York Jets wanted him back, Plaxico Burress passed in that opportunity in March. The Philadelphia Eagles were no different in their take on Plaxico Burress than the New York Giants and Cleveland Brown’s head coach had already expressed their disinterest last season. Even the Miami Dolphins see no role for Plaxico Burress.

But Plaxico Burress still dreams big about “picking” his “spots,” owing to an understanding of the “game from a mental standpoint.”

“I just want to put myself in a position to go out and have success and to make the guys around me better and obviously play with a quarterback who can really play the position,” said Plaxico Burress.

“People are going to be surprised by the shape I'm in… Teams haven’t seen…me workout,” continued Plaxico Burress. "Last year, I was really just trying to get my legs under me from the two-year layoff. [Now] I got my spring back…. I have my legs back and everybody is going to be in for a pleasant surprise when I hit the football field this year.”

Plaxico Burress has a career total of 550 receptions for 8,475 receiving yards with 663 touchdowns.
