As I'm sure you're all aware, the pollution in Beijing is - how do I say this politely - horrendously awful beyond belief. And with the Olympics starting in less than two months, it's of course a major concern.
Many countries won't even be basing their athletes in Beijing because the pollution is so bad. The US has even gone so far as to find locations in South Korea and Japan for athletes to train at before they jet them over to Beijing solely for their event.
But some teams, like the Australian team, are taking it even further and won't even be attending the opening ceremonies - again, for fear of athletes being hurt by pollution.
That may sound somewhat strange, until you see this video from ESPN's Outside the Lines. Just listen to the Australian athlete talk about a run he went on.
Suddenly, I don't think anyone should attend the Opening Ceremonies. There's also a belief out there that we shouldn't expect to see any world records set during these Games, again due to pollution.
And rather than hit you with those photos of people in Beijing with masks on in a sea of orange smog, I actually think this image below, shot from miles above the earth of Beijing, paints a better picture of how bad the pollution problem is.

Yes sir, this is going to be one heck of an Olympics.
