With free agency starting at midnight on Friday, let’s look at the cuts and re-signings made the last few days leading up to the start of free agency.
One of the best players who would have been available will not be, as the Dallas Cowboys re-signed All Pro tackle Flozell Adams to a 6-year, $42 million deal. A brilliant move by the Cowboys, as they keep one of the NFL’s best. The Cowboys also offered tenders to restricted free agents Marion Barber and Chris Canty. (1)
The Patriots agreed to sign Tedy Bruschi to a multi year deal, as apparently he has no interest to retire yet. (2)
The Chiefs re-signed punter Dustin Colquitt, while Ty Law is expected to be released. The Titans tendered RFA deals to kicker Rob Bironas, as well as TE Bo Scaife and OL David Stewart.
Meanwhile among players cut was longtime Ram WR Isaac Bruce. The 36 year old was going to make a lot against the cap. It’s unknown if he’ll retire. The Rams also cut backup QB Gus Frerotte. The Eagles released DE Jevon Kearse, who never really lived up to potential due to injury. Tampa released veteran linemen Greg Spires and Kevin Carter. The Saints cut bad kicker Mare, Rosevelt Colvin was released by the Patriots, and the Jets released Andre Dyson. The Ravens released C Mike Flynn, and the Panthers released QB David Carr. The Colts cut injured DT and LB Anthony McFarland and Rob Morris. (Complete transaction list)
