Preseason College Football Rankings: 2012 USA Today Coaches Poll

USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll Released

The USA Today Coaches Poll has been released for the upcoming college football season, and there's really not a whole lot worth talking about.

As expected, LSU, Alabama and USC make the top three in that order (although I would have it the other way around). It's a little surprising that the Tigers beat out the Tide after how the national championship played out, with both teams losing quite a bit on both sides of the ball to the NFL and graduation.

I don't think Texas, Stanford, Oklahoma State, Boise State, Florida, Notre Dame or Auburn will finish inside the Top 25 by season's end.

Washington will be a dark horse to finish as a Top 15 team this year, and it received some credit by getting 64 votes. Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, Louisville and Florida International are deserving of national attention, too.

In my opinion, the AP Poll should and will look significantly different than this one. It should be interesting to see how much things shift around this year, though, and I believe we'll have multiple No. 1 teams throughout the year.

I don't see Stanford having the same firepower on offense as its had the past two years. Chris Owusu, Griff Whalen, Coby Fleener, David DeCastro, Jonathan Martin, and Luck of course, all gone. Defense will be solid, mainly the front seven. I think it's a 7-8 win season for the Cardinal. And of course Louisville won't be in the coaches preseason poll. Not that it won't have a good football team this year, no, but because of the fact that it plays in the Big East. No love by other national-level coaches.

ESPN purposely left Louisville off the poll because they hate the BE.

Louisville just got screwed big time in the pointless preseason polls.

Tyler, I know you don't like Stanford this year, but mark it down, the Card is easily a top-15 team this year. 3 years in a row Stanford has been doubted in the preseason and has blasted through expectations. This year will be the same, Andrew Luck or no Andrew Luck. People said the team would crumble when Toby Gerhart left -- it didn't. People said the same after Jim Harbaugh -- it didn't.
