Last season, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford underwent Tommy John surgery, and it was originally projected that he would be ready for the beginning of the season. However, it seems that might not be the case.
Don Mattingly revealed that they were shutting him down for the week to give him some more time to recover.
The good news is that it isn't a pain, according to the outfielder, but a tightness and soreness. He said:
"It's frustrating, because personally I've been so anxious to get back out there. But my time will come."
It's encouraging that he has said it's more of a rehabbing issue than a pain, because that could take much longer to heal.
There's no timetable for his return right now.
