Boston did a few things well last night: the Big Three combined for 75 points, shot close to 50% as a team and outrebounded Detroit. What they did not do well was play their customary, tight, in your face defense.
Wait, I take that back, they did play a little 'in your face' defense. It just wasn't the type that accomplishes anything more than a lazy foul.
Late in the third quater, Rajon Rondo provided his interpretation of 'faceguarding,' which is technically allowed, assuming you don't actually put your hand on the guy's face.
More entertaining than Rondo's game of peek-a-poo is Jeff Van Gundy's rant on how stupid the Celtics have been playing. I think they get that from their coach. Just sayin'.
I don't understand why that's illegal if he hadn't touched him? It can't be a foul if there is no contact. I know he was tapping him in the eyes, but a no-touch peekabo curtain is not a bad strategy. I'd say on the annoying scale that would rank somewhere between 'mosquito shrill near your ear' and 'bowen.'
