The grip on the trophy for "best conference" continues to weaken with every week. With traditional heavyweights Auburn and Tennessee sinking to new and unusual depths, the league's desperately searching for someone to step up to the plate! This week's rankings...
The Contenders:
1. Alabama... indisputable until they actually lose one. And there is no close second!!
2. Georgia... all of a sudden, that once brutal schedule is looking much more manageable.
3. Florida... that was an impressive win, but this isn't 2006. One single impressive outing does not a champion make. Come with that kind of intensity and resolve EVERY week!
Everybody Else:
4. South Carolina... don't look now, but don't be surprised to see the Cocks finish '08 as the Dawgs did '07.
5. LSU... the signs were there (Auburn-21, and MSU-24), but who could have forecast that this Bayou Bungal defense would be so putrid??
6. Vandy... you wanna know how bad the SEC is this year? Rank teams beyond the top 5. What a bunch of mediocre crap! Anyway, Vandy (as it turns out) is exactly who we thought they were!
7. Ole Miss... The Rebs have a solid shot at going 7-5. They should be sending thank you cards to Broyles daily!!
8. Kentucky... At least the Cats continue to stuff their "moral victory trophy case" in Lexington!
9. Mississippi State... How bad did Croom need that one?? The schedule sets up for a job saving run if the players are interested!
10. Arkansas... This team is still terrible and Petrino is still a terrible hire, but every dog has their day and it's nice that there are still programs in worse shape than the Hogs'!
11. Auburn... Will Tubbs survive Saturday's debacle? A 1-4 finish is staring the War Tigers square in the eye!
12. Tennessee... 11 point per game in their last 4 games is pathetic. Georgia gave you opportunity after opportunity, yet the Vols still refused to take advantage. Any new rumors on the coaching search??
